✈️ Why We’re Moving — and Why Now

We’ve considered this move possibly being in the horizon for us for years… but after many emotional conversations — and with a recent trip to Spain proving that Claudia’s health declining — we’ve come to a hard truth:
We can’t wait any longer. We’re moving.
If you’ve been with us for a while, you already know how meaningful this is. Almost three years ago, many of you helped us travel to Spain to take care of Nick’s mom — sorting her legal status, finances, and housing. Because of your generosity and months of effort, Claudia is now, as of February 2025, in wonderful hands in her permanent home. Now, it’s time to be close — not just to support her from a distance, but to share day-to-day life and create new memories.

🧡 We want to share these years — not miss them.

After living with us for three years, in order to have health insurance, Claudia moved to and has lived in Spain for the past eight years. During this time we’ve been on the other side of the Atlantic — much closer to Lex's side of the family. As many of you know, Lex has also spent a portion of these years helping care for her 98-year-old grandma with dementia. Choosing to leave her family to be near Claudia now hasn’t been easy — but we feel it’s the right time to spread our presence between both families, and allow Nick to be near his mom while we still can.
We also want Claudia to feel her family around her while she still has her strength, and with hope that having us close will help in her wellness.
This is also an opportunity to be closer to Nick’s brother who lives in Germany.  It’s been nearly 30 years since they lived in the same part of the world. While they have some history, this move gives us all a chance to reconnect and find closeness again.
We’re ready to put the past behind us and rebuild what’s possible. This move is a chance to heal, not just relocate.

💡 This isn’t our first move — but it’s our most unfamiliar.

We've moved before — from Mexico to the U.S. — but Lex had already spent most of her life living between both countries.
That transition felt familiar.
This one is different.
Nick was born in Germany, but moved away as a pre-teen. So while Europe is technically “home,” this is the first time he’ll be living there as an adult.
And for both of us, it’s the first time we’re creating a life in another continent — together, with Marley — and with an audience that’s grown into a real family.

🧳 Why we’re taking everything — and not storing anything.

We’ve very recently realized it is not feasible to leave anything stored or behind in the U.S.
The main reason: we were recently informed that when relocating to Spain, you only have 90 days from your arrival to import personal goods tax-free. After that, import penalties apply — so this is our one chance to bring what we need affordably and legally.
So... we’re bringing everything with us, and we’ve been quoted $3,800 to ship 15 boxes of essentials, including gear and many of the gifts you have sent us over the years. This does not include the shipping materials or any additional fees. We’ll likely still need a storage unit in Spain while we search for a permanent home, but at least our things will be close to us, not across an ocean.

👣 We’re also taking a leap — to live off content creation full-time.

This move also marks a major shift in how we work.
For the first time, we’re choosing to see if we can support ourselves fully through content creation — through our channel, reactions, interviews, livestreams, and travel content.
We may still take part-time jobs to fill financial gaps or build local connections, but our heart is in creating. This is us betting on ourselves — and your support helps us stay focused and afloat during this transition.
You’re not just helping us move. You’re helping us make something real and sustainable out of this community we’ve all built together.

✨ We’ve always kept some things private — now we’re opening the door a little wider.

Until now, we’ve kept a lot of our personal lives off camera. We haven’t shared much about our daily routines, past careers/ventures, or deeper personal stories. We’ve always wanted the music — and this space — to speak for itself. But now that this move is happening, and content creation is becoming our full-time livelihood, we’ll be sharing more of our real lives, too. What it’s like to start over. What it means to move for love and family. What it means to be far from what’s familiar — but still feel grounded through this community. We may even explore stories we’ve never shared before (Lex has years of experience working in criminal justice — just one of many things we’ve kept private until now).
This channel will still be rooted in music. But now, it will reflect our lives more fully — and you’ll be coming along.

💸 Here’s what your support helps cover:

  • 📦 $3,800+ international shipping for our belongings — including sentimental items and gear many of you have gifted us over the years

  • 🔑 Storage unit in Spain — to keep our things nearby and safe while avoiding import fees while we look for a long-term home

  • ✈️ Flights for both of us and Marley, including airline pet fees, vet visits, vaccines, paperwork, and his Euro pet passport

  • 🏠 Airbnb & rental/pet deposits as we get settled and search for our new place. (Many places in Spain require min. 2-3 months deposit!)

  • 🚗 A modest used car for daily life and creating content across the region. Also helpful to be able to pickup Claudia and take her around!

  • 🪑 Basic furniture and household essentials to set up our new space

  • 🎥 Camera, lighting & audio gear upgrades to continue producing reactions, livestreams, and vlogs abroad - now in higher quality!

  • 📄 Residency paperwork, health insurance setup, translations, and legal fees required to establish ourselves legally in Spain

💬 “But don’t you have savings?”

We do — and we’re using a part of them.
But in order to legally establish residency in Spain, we must maintain a specific amount of money in our accounts to qualify. We can’t risk draining those funds on the front-end and jeopardising our ability to stay.
Your support allows us to make this transition without compromising our future.

🎥 The NicknLex Journey Continues — With You.

We’ll still be doing music reactions. Livestreams. Interviews. And now, we’ll also be sharing life abroad — from Marley’s first steps in Spain to the culture shifts, road trips, healing relationships, and what it’s really like to take the leap and start fresh in a new place.
This is more than content. It’s our life; and we’re so grateful you’re part of it.
Thank you — for helping us get there. For helping us be with family. Most of all, for being part of this Familia. 💛
In a time full of uncertainty for us, it’s incredibly moving to know that your love and support are something we can count on.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being that kind of certain. ❤️
With love,
Nick, Alexia & Marley 🐾
